・Overview of Monacard

Monacard is either name of the service that connect between Monaparty tokens and images, and also it means connected tokens itself.

https://card.mona.jp/explorer/all_cards?sort=new

Since it was launched in Jan. 2018, 3200 different cards have been issued as of Spt. 2021.

Most short and appropriate explanation of Monaparty is "a token platform based on Counterparty" (https://twitter.com/Monapartyxmp).

Its design and function are inherited from original Counterparty of Bitcoin. However, some Monaparty original feature is added, and base chain is changed to Monacoin.

As Monaparty is running on Monacoin chain, almost all functions can be used less than $0.1 as tx fee is very low.

・What you need to create Monacard

To create Monacard, you need following items.

・Picture that you want to embed to the card (Accepted format is 800×560 / 1200×840 / 1800x1260. Portrait is recommended).

・Monacoin (0.1MONA would be enough).

・50 XMP (Not mandatory. If you don’t have this, some function would be limited).

XMP is a Monaparty asset that is needed to issue Monaparty tokens with specified name.

You can get XMP either on-chain market “Dispensers” or Airdrop.

・How to get Monacard Airdrop (Monapa-chan)

First of all, you do not have to have wallet if you just want to try getting Monacards.

There is a great twitter bot, "Monapa-chan (https://twitter.com/monapachan)".

If you have a twitter account, you can get air drop of Monacard and send/receive it to/from other twitter account via Monapa-chan. Of course you can withdraw these Monacards to your Monaparty supported wallet.

Fllow Monapa-chan and go to the Monapa-chan portal (https://monapachan.komikikaku.com/).

Select "DISTS" from the hamburger menu in the upper right corner, and you will see several images.

This is a list of cards distributed by volunteers. Flip through the pages, and when you find a card you like, click on the image.

This will take you to the tweet where the card is being distributed.

By sending a reply, the card will be sent to your twitter account (I said here "nice kogasa-chan", name of the character of the card).

Or, if you already have Monaparty address, by replying to Monapa-chan with your address, the card will be sent to your address directly.

Note that the address should be “Monaparty address”. If it isn’t, the asset may be lost permanently! If you do not understand “Monaparty address”, you had better avoid this operation. (Meaning of "Monaparty address" will be explained later.)

When you received the card on Monapa-chan, you won't get any notifications.

To check the card is sent to you, return to Monapa-chan portal and login with your twitter account (that you replied to Monapa-chan), then go to the menu at the top right of Monapa-chan portal and select "SAIFU".

You will see the card is added to your SAIFU ("SAIFU" means a wallet in Japanese).

Please note that Monapa-chan is twitter bot run by a man, and "Not your key Not your assets".

I strongly recommend you prepare wallet that supports Monaparty protocol to store assets securely.

There are some Monaparty supporting wallets, but here I reccomend you to use "Monapalette", web wallet application for Monacoin and Monaparty. Currently this is the most powerful and easy to use.

https://monapalette.komikikaku.com/wallet

・Make a wallet for Monacard (Monapalette )

Monacoin and Monacards (Monaparty tokens) can be stored to your Monapalette, a Monaparty compatible wallet.

Here, you will setup “mnemonic” and set Quick Access URL to your wallet.

When you access Monapalette, you will enter the top page as shown below.

Since you don't have a wallet yet, you need to generate a new one first.

When you click on "Generate new wallet", you will be taken to the password setting screen as shown below.

Enter a secure password of your choice at least 16 characters, to upper box and lower box, and then press "Generate Wallet".

Then you will see "mnemonic (BIP39)" and "Quick Access URL".

The act of exposing your passphrase and Quick Access URL is very dangerous.

At this time, for explanation, a newly generated wallet with zero assets is used.

As long as you remember these 12 words, mnemonic, even if your PC is destroyed to pieces, you can recover your wallet on a new computer or phone if you follow the right steps.

On the other hand, if these 12 words are lost, no matter how hard you cry, recovery is impossible.

Also, if these words become known to a third party with bad intentions, that man will be able to access your wallet.

Therefore, please save the mnemonic in a secure way.

Now the Monaparty wallet is generated.

Via "Quick Access URL," you can open the wallet by simply entering the password you initially entered.

Of course, you can open it by moving to top page and click "Open existing wallet" and entering the mnemonic, but it would bother you.

Copy the "New Quick Access URL" displayed on the screen, add it to your bookmarks, and go to the page. You will see a screen like the one below.

On this screen, in the "パスワード (Password)" field, enter the password you entered before.

Then, your "address" (a 34-character string starting with "MRPs~") will then be displayed as shown below.

Now you got your Monapalette wallet.

Since this is a new wallet, the balances of "MONA" and "XMP" are zero.

From now on, you will be able to specify where you want to deposit by giving this address to the other person, just like a bank account number.

You will also be able to transfer assets from here.

For your information, the address generated by a Monaparty-enabled wallet like Monapalette is sometimes referred to as a "Monaparty address".

It is because if you send a Monaparty tokens to a non-Monaparty-enabled wallet, it would be very difficult to retrieve it either sender and receiver. This is a custom to avoid accidents not to lose Monaparty tokens.

Other than Monaparet, there are other wallets that can handle Monaparty addresses, “Mpurse”, “Monya”, and “Counterwallet-mona”.

・Get MONA and XMP

See below for exchanges where MONA is available.

https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/monacoin

However, the largest market of mona, Bitbank and the second largest market, Zaif is not open for foreigners.

Instead of it, I recommend you to use the third largest market, Bittrex.

https://global.bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-MONA

On the other hand, there is no exchange that handles XMP, but it is possible to obtain XMP in exchange for MONA from the on-chain market by using the Dispenser function described below. If you have mona, this is a better option for you.

You can also find free XMP among the items distributed by the Monapa-chan. It is possible to collect 50 XMP by checking some airdrops.

Note that you can get only one time from each Monapa-chan airdrop.

In addition, it is not planned to issue additional XMP.The only way to get XMP is to trade with people who already have it. Total supply is 682.5million XMP.

・Withdraw from Monapa-chan

After you created Monaparty address, you can withdraw your assets in Monapachan.

Click check box (see ①) of each card you want to withdraw and withdrawal icon (see ②).

Then, dialogue box will appear and enter the address you created on Monapalette and counts you want to withdraw.

Here, you can choose multiple tokens up to 20.

By pressing “execute withdrawal”, tokens you accumulated on Monapa-chan will be sent to your address.

When tokens are sent to you, Monapachan will send DM.

If you do not receive this, it means you are not following Monapa-chan on twitter. However, tokens are sent to you whether you are following or not.

A few minutes later, on your Monaparty wallet, BSOLTDORA will appear.

On same procedure, you can send XMP gathered from Monapa-chan to your Monaparty wallet.

・Purchase tokens from Dispensers

In Monaparty, “Dispenser” function is installed. By sending Mona, you can get Monaparty asset.

On the top right corner of the Monapalette, click and open hamburger menu.

Then, some categories will appear.

At this time, choose “Markets”.

You will see two tabs, "DEX" and "Dispensers", click on "Dispensers".

A list of the Dispensers will be displayed.

Find a card that you like and click on the image of the card. I just selected a card ONOW as a test.

You will see a screen of the entire card, the address from which the payment will be made, and a form to enter the number of units purchased (not the number of cards!).

I just selected the ONOW card. You will see a screen of the whole card and a form to enter the payment address and the number of units.

Note that some cards like XMP is sold several counts at one time. Before purchasing it, you must check here carefully.

In the Address field, select the address you want to pay from the pull-down list, and enter the number of units you want.

By click the "Buy" button, the following screen will appear.

Read and if you accept it, press OK.

Then, following screen will appear.

Return to the wallet after a few minutes. You will see the card has been added.

If it hasn't been added, wait a few minutes and try updating it by pressing round-cursor icon.

・Issue Monaparty token

From now on, we will follow a series of procedures as if we are issuing a certain card "XAMONGSTARSX".

First, upload the image to imgur then get the link to the image.

The wallet screen of a person who has obtained XMP and MONA should look like the following.

Press the "+" icon in the XMP column, circled in red, and you will see a window like this.

Here you can set the characteristics of the tokens to be used for the card. Here are some notes on each item.

・Custom(カスタム)/Subasset(サブアセット)/ NFT (Non Fungible Token)/ Number(ナンバー):

 Select the naming method.

On “Custom”, you can choose token name you like. Custom naming requires 50 XMP. 4 to 12 letters of the alphabet whose first letter is not A. Of course, already used name can’t be used.

At this time “Subasset” is skipped, this method needs already issued tokens and its ownership.

“NFT” will be explained later.

On “Number”, automatically generated number will be assigned, for example "A15164905454969674422". “Number” requires no XMP.

・Token name :

You can enter 4 to 12 letters of the alphabet whose first letter is not A. The token name is set separately from the card's title, but since this value is used to specify the card's page in the URL like this (https://card.mona.jp/explorer/card_detail?asset=XAMONGSTARSX), it is often named after the card. In this case, I used "XAMONGSTARSX", which is the full 12-character limit.

・Description :

You can write description of tokens. This section can be changed but previous one will remain on chain.

・Amount:

Number of tokens you want to issue at this time. You can set from 0 to huge number.

You can add more cards later, but you cannot delete them. If you set too many sheets, it would make confusion later, so I set mine at about 50 sheets.

・Send tokens with decimal places:

This is not enabled by default. This flag determines whether tokens can be sent with a decimal point, but since Monacards can only be sent in whole numbers, it is left off.

You can't change it later. If you want to issue Monacard, leave here as is.

・Tradeable on DEX:

This is a permission flag for listing on DEX.

DEX stands for "Decentralized Exchange". Monaparty is equipped with the function of an exchange, which allows you to trade with XMP and other cards.

It is allowed by default, but you can uncheck it if you don't want your card to be distributed secondarily on the exchange. It is not possible to change it later.

・Re-assignable

If you do not want your card to be circulated on exchanges, you can uncheck this flag.

Unchecking this will prohibit anything other than sending the card from or to the address where it was issued.

The default is to allow this, but it can be used if you want the card to have typical meaning.

However, if this option is unchecked, it will be impossible for the recipient to move the card to another address to organize it.

No later changes can be made. Also, even if you remove this flag, you can still move the card using the Dispenser (see below), so it is not a fundamental anti-resale measure.

On NFT issuance, you can set only “group name” and “description”. Token name will be defined automatically like “Number”. If you choose to issue as NFT, its amount is limited to 1 and is guaranteed on the Monaparty protocol.

If you would like to set series of cards like CryptoPunks, you can choose same “group name” next time and can show the NFTs are series of cards.

For now, set the name and the number of copies, and leave the following three items as default settings.

When you click "Issue", you will see the amount of MONA you need to pay for the card issuance, and this is the only opportunity you will use MONA to issue Monacard.

*Note that initially issuance fee was 0.5XMP. On recent update, it is change to 50XMP.

When you press OK to issue the card, "XAMONGSTARSX" is added as shown below (I used my own wallet, so there are already other tokens).

Note that tokens you issued are shown as gold. If not, these are shown as green.

If you don't see "XAMONGSTARS" added as shown above, click the refresh button in the upper right corner of the address after about 10 minutes.

Normally the information is updated in a few minutes, but sometimes there is a delay.

・Register Monacard information

The token you issued previously is not a Monacard because it has not yet been linked to an illustration.

At this section, you will register the information and pictures to make Monaparty token a card.

Click on the three dot icons on the lower right corner of each token.

A window will come up as shown below, then click on the pencil icon in the upper right corner.

This will open the asset settings window (The "assets" in your wallet, although not coins, are called "assets").

If you check the box for "Define Monacard information," the screen will switch to the one shown below.

The card name, issuer’s name, card description, and tag are just what you read.

Enter these information as you like.

For the image URL, you will have to enter the direct link to the image you uploaded to imgur. Be careful not to link to the edit screen.

You can also change the settings of these items later, it is because these information are not saved to blockchain but on monacard.com.

When you click "reflect changes", the card information is linked to the token and at the same time the Monacard is created.

Click on the card icon in the upper right corner of the address.

Now you can see that a card has been created.

・Sell at Dispenser

In this article, how to sell card through Dispenser will be explained.

Dispenser is a system that sends a pre-defined Monaparty token back to the source address of MONA when a certain amount of MONA is sent.

Due to its nature, it can cause following unprecedented result.

For example, when

・Withdrawals from exchanges

・Withdrawal from Monappy

・Deposit from someone

Is happened, “Dispenser”will send back Monaparty tokens to the sender's address.

So there is a risk of losing tokens permanently due to your careless (In some cases, it is possible to retrieve the token if you have the private key, but there is no chance that the exchange will accept it).

Therefore, I strongly recommend you to make dedicated address for Dispenser.

Also, for reasons that will be explained later, as a general rule, only one Dispenser should be set per address.

Click on the three horizontal dot icon in the upper right corner of the address with the Monacard you want to sell.

This will display the operation menu for the address.

Click on the "Set dispenser" button in the bottom center to go to the Dispenser settings screen.

Here, you must set above 4 options.

For example, I set a dispenser of XAMONGSTARS at 0.5 MONA as unit price and each unit includes a token, with 10 cards in stock.

After entering the information, press "Set dispenser", and then press "OK".

If the settings work, you will see the Dispenser below the address.

Click on it to see the balance for each pair. You can also stop the Dispenser from here.

By the way, there is a reason why I explained the "Dispenser" as "a system that sends back a pre-defined Monaparty token when a certain amount of MONA is sent.”

The Dispenser interprets deposits to an address uniformly, so if you have multiple Dispensers set up on one address, multiple settings may react to a single deposit and send the card back multiple times.

As shown below, "1 XABOVECLOWDS/1mona" and "1 XAMONGSTARSX/0.5mona" are set.

When a deposit of 1MONA is made, 1 XABOVECLOWDS and 2 XAMONGSTARSX will be sent back.

If you want to sell multiple cards, you can generate another address in your wallet and set up a dispenser there (However, you can also use this feature to sell a set of cards, so it's up to you to figure out how to use it).

This is how to create a card with Monapalette and how to sell it with Dispenser.

FYI Trading history of Dispensers can be checked this twitter bot.

https://twitter.com/mona_dispenses/

I hope you enjoy monacard.
